Today Nokia released a black version of their flagship camera phone. The black one sadly only available in the US market at the moment. Although nicely made and free of squeaks and rattles the N82 does feel rather plasticy in the hand. Also the buttons take some getting used to. If taking pics is your 'thing' then a N82 is a must.

I'll get straight to the point and say that the nokia 5500 sport is a piss poor attempt at a 'rugged' mobile phone. I bought one to replace my aging 5410i which was utterly bombproof. OK, so it was hideous and had the computing power of a 1970's Casio calculator, BUT..... it never ever let me down. The poor little blighter suffered so much. My eyes moisten just thinking about it. For example, it was run over by a tractor, submerged in water, left out in frosty weather, fell from a moving car roof, thrown at the cat just to mention a few. And it still goes on. God bless it. But there comes a point when one fancies a change, so my massive brain thought the replacement model would be a good upgrade. Oh dear, how i was wrong.

Here is a list of problems with the Nokia 5500 Sport so far (after 5 months of use. Its in the right of the picture)

Battery cover wont seat nicely
Screen cracked
Very sluggish S60 software
Rubber keypad lifting and splitting
Poor earpiece speaker
Cracked rubber protective flap

I went into my local Nokia store (i was passing and i fancied a moan) to pass on my thoughts about their supposidly rugged oudoor phone. The dimwits in there would not listen (they came straight from the Zoo by the looks of it), insisting the 5500 had been a success with great feedback. OH PLLEEASEE! Just take a look in the nokia forums you cretins.

The bottom line to people who cant be bothered to read the above (i would'nt) is DO NOT BUY A NOKIA 5500 if you do anything remotely more active than sitting at a desk all day.
