Some of you may, or may not know but I had an 'off' on my current 600rr recently. Just one of those things really. Anyway, it is about to be repaired and I really can't wait to be back on the road again. Its funny, but when you have not been in the saddle for a while that first ride afterwards feels so great. A massive sense of freedom and flight. Nothing beats that feeling of being at one with road and machine.

Oh dear. yesterday one mile away from home returning from a fantastic ride on my new Honda thinks went rather pear shaped. 2nd gear, knee kissing the tarmac fully cranked over carefully modulating the throttle.. and then it happened. The front tyre could not hold any longer and the bike low sided, with me following closely behind. It was one of those slow motion moments. I swore under my helmet as i watched my pride and joy sliding down the road making a very expensive horrible noise. Bugger. I am so gutted about it. I'm ok. My gear fully protected me. Bit sore here and there. Boots, gloves and suit all showing signs of tarmac v leather. Bits on the bike knackered goes as follows..

Well, its a lesson. its my 1st accident for 10,000 bike road miles, so it was gonna happen sometime. Its not if but when. No one else was involved thankfully. So there we go.... one knackered bike and one very pissed off owner.

Honda 2008 CBR 600rr Suspension set up

Been a bit quiet here recently.... have a new toy that is fighting for my attention. Its a Honda CBR 600rr in pearl white and metallic grey. Have been running it in which is a big topic in its self. I have taken he middle road, so I am not thrashing it from the start nor taking it too easy. Certainly a new engine needs a certain amount of load to bed the rings in nicely. The 1st service is fast approaching after which my throttle application will be more liberal. mmmmm. Suspension setup is something that I am finding fairly interesting. Off the production line the suspension is set up for a 'average' rider doing 'average' riding. Since I meet neither of those descriptions it is paramount that I personalize it. Preload and damping (compression and rebound) both need careful fiddling. First step is to set the correct amount of sag, front and rear. Also set correct tyre pressures, because the recommended pressures are nearly always too hard. Manual says 36/42... I say 33/36. Its a compromise between comfort, handling, tyre life and tyre grip. Gonna stop nattering now..... will chat again about 'her' soon.
